The Start of My Avon Journey
Avon has been in my family for as long as I can remember. My grandma sold Avon for many, many years. The most memorable time was in Tennessee, while visiting family friends. The bugs out there were ridiculously huge and when you got a mosquito bite you had a welt. The bug spray didn’t do much to keep us from getting bit. Out there they used the Original Sent Skin So Soft as mosquito repellant. Surprisingly, that did the trick during the rest of our visit. Ever since then, I’ve used Skin So Soft instead of mosquito repellent. Last year it was time to stock up on Skin So Soft, as I was checking out, become a rep for $0 popped up. 25% off your purchases from Avon, at no cost to me, why not. I signed up placed my order, got my first discount and I was pleased. I had no intention of actually trying to sell Avon to anyone other then myself. When you place an order they send you one brochure and one What’s New booklet at no cost to you. I was looking at those before one of my son’s baseball games when one of the mom’s noticed. We spoke about it, and I ended up placing an order for her. By the end of the baseball season I had placed a few orders for her, still no intention on trying to sell to anyone else. By this time I has also placed an order for my mom and grandma, I was also buying face cleansers and bodywash for my family and I to use. By the end of 2023 I was thinking about getting a part time job maybe on the weekends to help pay off debt and aiming to purchase a house in the near future. January came around an my goal was to try and get a 2nd job by the end of the month. I had no idea what that job would be. My regular job takes a lot from me so I just knew I wanted something I can just go, do my job and go home, nothing where I have to be in charge or take my work home with me. I wanted to work from home or work very close to home. Then it finally dawned on me, it was staring me in the face the whole time, why not Avon? I can do it on my own time, I can put in as much or as little as I want into it, I loved the products I was already using. So, mid January I decided I was going to make Avon my part time career path. My goal is to make Avon into my full time job in the next five to ten years. I’m going to do that in conjunction with this blog, granted it took me longer than expected to get this blog up and running. I’ve been contemplating a blog for the past few years, why not use it on my Avon journey.
It wasn’t until last month that I really learned about skin care and why it’s so important. Before Avon I used regular soap to wash my face, after I started using a face cleanser, then I watched a Skin Care Masterclass and learned what a skin care routine was. The first thing I thought to myself was Oh My Gosh, I never wear sunscreen, why didn’t I know this before. How did I not know using SPF is the best anti-aging product you can use. Of course, preventative instead of reactive, it makes so much sense. Who knew you were supposed to start a skin care routine in your mid twenties, I’m 10 years behind. Then I realized, well, it’s better late then never. I’ve started with the Farm RX Green Goddess line. I got the serum, cooling gel and cream, it absorbs good into my skin and feels refreshing. The Anew Ultimate day cream has SPF in it and it doesn’t absorb fully into my skin, so I learned to apply some powder after so my skin doesn’t look so shiny. I’m not one to wear makeup on a daily basis but I feel the powder does a good job and it isn’t to much for my face.
It’s now been 2 months since I decided to start my Avon Journey. It has gone better than I had anticipated. I’ve had a total of 18 orders so far for 10 customers. I know everything usually starts off really slow. I’ve had friends and family purchase make up, bath and skin care products from me. I’ve had people reach out with interest in brochures and sign up for the Avon sweepstakes. I also have a few orders pending product availability. In order to get to this point I have created and updated accounts on Pinterest, Nextdoor, Linkden, Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, Google and FindSalesRep.com. By updating and sharing Avon on my accounts I’ve reached family and friends that are interested and have trust in me already. I’m excited to have a booth at our next karate event on April 21st at Azusa Highschool. I’m hoping to make a few sales but if not I’m happy and excited to share with our karate family that I’m selling Avon and maybe get some business in the future.
